Agenda For the Meetup:-

• Creation of a formal Mozilla community in Kolkata to serve as a base for all volunteers as well as anyone interested in contributing to Mozilla from Kolkata and the surrounding regions.

• Recruiting new volunteers/community members.

• Organizing Mozilla events in Kolkata and deciding upon tentative dates and venues for these.

• Getting more students involved in FOSS related activities in Kolkata.

• Interacting with other FOSS / Tech groups to spread greater FOSS awareness in the Eastern parts of India.

Outcomes From The Meetup:-

• Creation of Mozilla Kolkata Community.

• Identifying key areas of improvements for the local community.

• Identified potential venues for future events in the area. Namely:-

  • Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur;
  • Netaji Subhas Engineering College;
  • Techno India College;
  • St.Xavier's College;
  • Dr. B.C. Roy College, Durgapur.

• Formal Discussion with the local FOSS groups resulted in a lot of great ideas, including:-

  • Creation of a common events calendar for all local FOSS communities to share plan out their events in collaboration with each other;
  • Planning out incentives for teachers/mentors from various institutes who promote FOSS activities among the students in the region;
  • Planning out various competition-type online/offline events for students in the area to keep interest levels high.
