Description It’s Good to be FREE A celebration of FOSS Technologies and Communities September 16, 2017.
Since 2004, the Computer Professionals’ Union through the Software Freedom Day Philippines network strives to celebrate free open source software and promote a sense of sharing and community through free annual celebrations of Software Freedom Day.
To date, we’ve held twelve different SFD celebrations in six different schools/universities with thousands of attendees – all free of charge attending students, IT practitioners, and enthusiasts.
This year, we aim to celebrate Software Freedom Day with the theme, “IT’s Good to be FREE! A Celebration of FOSS Technologies and Communities.” This will celebrate more than a decade of free open source software (FOSS) and the open source movement in the Philippines, while also recognizing the continuing need to promote and popularize FOSS among youth, students, and computer users at large.
