The Mozilla Philippines Community is invited to present a plenary talk on Mozilla and the Open Web in this year's celebration of Software Freedom Day Philippines, on September 21, 2013, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Far Eastern University, Manila City. For several years now, Mozilla Philippines has been an active partner of this local celebration of software freedom that aims to educate the public about the value and importance of software freedom.
This year the Computer Professionals' Union together with the FEU Mathematics Society will be hosting Software Freedom Day Philippines 2013, PRISM BREAK: Protecting privacy and freedom with FOSS. Recent expose of NSA's PRISM and other foreign surveillance programs by the US and UK has left many to ask if there are alternatives to internet and other telecommunications services that are directly used for surveillance. SFD Philippines 2013 will highlight discussions on right to privacy, encrypting our information and lessening our reliance on these proprietary services by using FOSS.
