Description of activity
We (me and Pablo Terradillos) gave a FirefoxOS workshop on the JSConf in Uruguay.
Since FirefoxOS has already been launched there, there is raising interest and people is starting to build / port / prepare their apps to work on FirefoxOS.
There where about 200 attendees to the event, and about 60 signed to the Workshop (room was full). We also invited Nick Desaulniers as a speaker, which also raised interest in the whole audience, not only about FirefoxOS but about some other topics as Emscripten and asm.js.
Overall, we had many questions after the workshop and during all the event, as we were wandering on the hallways with our Mozilla shirts and swags and they had our photo on their lanyards, as all other speakers did.
The most interesting feedback we got, from many guys interested in developing or porting their current apps, is that there is no "local support channel". So we ended up a week later with the idea of creating a mailing list for Argentina and Uruguay, to help developers in the region port their apps to FirefoxOS or build new ones, something like a "local FirefoxOS app building/migration task force", which we expect to grow since we are holding a couple of workshops in the next month.
