Description Hillhacks is a two week long event in Dharamsala, India with participants from all around India and all around the world. It's organized by CCC and freaklabs as well as participants from MIT Media Lab, Tibetan Children's Village, Dharamsala International Film Festival, Ghoomakad hackerspace, and many more. The Mozilla India community sees this as a great opportunity to reachout to the Tibetian as well as local kids from the Dharamsala area and teach them some quick tricks of webmaking.

Our target audience:

  • Around 10 rural Ladies via Jagori Institute, that have already some basic knowledge and exposure on ICT.
  • Around 30 kids in the age group of 3-11
  • Around 20 teens in the age group of 16-20
  • A few generic audience for some open tracks

Activities planned:

  • Webmaker with the ladies - The usual webmaker thing. [Date: sometimes between 15th and 18th, 1 day]
  • Webmaker with the teens - Date: Monday, 20th.
  • Doing a Usability testing session with the teens -
    1. learn about basics of Usability and User studies. Some Paper Prototyping etc, playing around with small fictional User-Studies.
    2. Using the knowledge on existing projects (e.g. 3 or 4 groups each around 5 person working on one project), making user studies and improving the software
    3. Reaching out to the project and giving them this feedback [Date: Some days between 15th and 18th, more day event.]
  • Some event with the kids - Especially the age group below 6 would be interesting. [4 hours, sometimes between 15th and 17th (only weekday).]
